This broad spectrum interference filter completely blocks all UV and IR rays and allows the visible spectral range to pass unhindered.
Digital camera sensors are inherently sensitive to infrared light which would interfere with the normal photography. IR rays often create a "flare ghost effect" on the picture too. That's why many digital cameras employ infrared blockers. However many cameras or applications do not have an IR filter/blocker. This is where a UV-IR cut filter can help.
This filter is especially recommended for CCD applications where digital image sensors have been fitted without IR blockers. Its range of application therefore extends from video films via digital photography to special technical applications. In conventional photography it is useful for shots in mountains, near the sea and in conditions at the height of summer.
